Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), has launched its 2022 Alaskan cruise season from Port of Seattle with Norwegian Bliss. This ship is the first to visit Alaska in this season. It’s also the first of five vessels from the group to cruise the Last Frontier until October 2022.
The vessel will offer travellers an immersive experience through Southeast Alaska. It will take them to natural wonders such as Glacier Bay National Park, a 25-million-acre World Heritage Site. NCL was granted this access due to NCL’s environmental commitments to wildlife protection, air emissions, and waste reduction. The majestic Mendenhall Glacier is located just 12 miles from Juneau, Alaska. Also, guests can visit the Misty Fiords National Monument, near Ketchikan Alaska. This wilderness, glacier-carved, features snowcapped mountains, and waterfalls.
NCL is a pioneer in cruising between Seattle and Alaska. NCL is committed to the region and works with partners in Seattle and Alaska to promote responsible and immersive tourism.
The company invested in Ward Cove Dock Group to drive economic support in Alaska. This group transformed land that was previously designated as a superfund cleanup or contaminated site by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) into a sustainable, eco-friendly, and enjoyable location for the community and cruise passengers.
A partnership was formed with the Alaska Native-owned Huna Totem Corporation to build a second cruise port at Icy Strait Point and expand Wilderness Landing. The improvements included upgrades to retail and restaurants as well as shore excursions, including the largest ZipRider zipline in the world and experiences that highlight the culture of native Huna Tlingit.
NCL’s Great Cruise Comeback celebrated the restart of operations in 2021. The brand recommenced its U.S. cruises from Seattle to Alaska, making its first stop at Icy Strait Point. It also welcomed the official opening of Wilderness Landing Pier and the first of two gondolas that were completed as part the joint investment between NCLH & Huna Totem.
World Travel Awards voters voted Norwegian Cruise Line the ‘World’s Leading Cruise Line 2021’ as well as the ‘World’s Leading Large Ship Cruise Line (2021). World Cruise Awards also awarded the brand the title of ‘World’s Best Cruise Line 2021’
